Fifty days following Easter, Pentecost is the celebration of the Holy Spirit being poured out on the church. Tongues of fire and a sound like a rushing wind were given as signs of the Holy Spirit’s empowering as the disciples were compelled to testify to God’s goodness to all the nations.
