These days, your home is becoming many things. Not only it is where you eat, sleep, and relax, but for many, it’s also now where you work, study, and perhaps teach your kids. And there's more: your home is also your church.
As you prepare your space for Sunday Liturgy, please consider a few things:
Tidy up. The character of this service can be enhanced in a number of ways, including the use of appropriate changes of posture and physical movement, the provision of a visual focus for worship, such as a cross, an icon, or a lighted candle. Oh, and it might help to tidy up the room a bit.
Groups. If praying with your family or friend-group, it is helpful to assign different parts of the service to different members of the worshipping group (for example, reading the Scriptures, singing the verses of psalms, leading the prayers).
Individuals. If praying as an individual, read both the “leader” and “people" parts of the service, and do so as is: in the first-person plural (we/us). Although you are reading in solitude, you are not reading alone. You are spiritually joining alongside brothers and sisters across the globe and throughout time who are with you, praying for the Church and the world.
May you be blessed as you participate with Christ and his Church this Sunday.
