Dear Restoration,

The darkness of Advent has broken, and we now step into the season of Epiphany. The Light of Christ goes into all places! As Epiphanytide progresses, pay attention to the Sunday readings which will tell the story of God the Father expressing love for all humanity, God the Son proclaiming the arrival of the Kingdom, and God the Spirit taking this good news to the gentiles.

How will Restoration celebrate Epiphany this year? We are a church that values Wholeness: God’s light is relevant to every aspect of life. We’ll be discovering the Light of Christ at Church, at Home, and at Work. Here’s what I mean.

at Church

Beginning on the first Sunday of Epiphany, January 10, we will pray the eucharistic liturgy of the Anglican Church of Kenya as a way to remind ourselves of our connectedness with other Gospel Anglicans across the globe. You’ll find that this liturgy is highly participatory, vivacious, and beautifully poetic. May you be blessed at Church.

at Home

We will provide a special “Home Blessing” service for you to pray with your households. Throughout the pandemic, we’ve sought to emphasize the “priesthood of all believers,” and this is a great chance for you to seek God’s blessing and protection over every room in your home. I will anoint chalk during the Sunday Worship on January 10 for you to use, which you can then come and pick up along with a prayer booklet for Home Blessing. May you be blessed at Home.

at Work

Finally, our teaching Series this season will emphasize Faith and Vocation, that is, celebrating the light of our faith in our various places of work. Ben Nicka has taught on this subject for many years and has selected five Scripture passages along this theme to discuss over five weeks. May you be blessed at Work.

May Christ, the Son of God, perfect in you the image of his glory and gladden your hearts with the good news of his kingdom during this illuminating Season of Epiphany!

In Christ,
Father Rick
